When you step out from your sweet home and are ready for heading towards an unknown place which is really different from the one where you live, then take care of various small things which can really make a big difference.
Even today after having been to many trips, I still make mistakes whenever I am on a trip, but the best way to make yourself adaptive is to “Learn”.
So, In this post I will be focusing on some of the things which you should take care of before heading anywhere.
It is good to carry plastic money but wait.. here is the trap. Most of the people prefer paying by cards or from any online portal but it depends on the place. Before leaving for any place, go online and/or check whether ATM/Money Exchange/Banks are available or not. At some places people go and swipe their cards but they need to pay 2-5% of the transaction amount. If you are planning to go at a remote area or somewhere there is less chance to pay using cards then do carry hard cash in advance and if by luck, you find the way to pay by cards then return back with your money and deposit it back to your account.
2. Don’t assume.. Check the weather..
Check the day before you fly and pack accordingly. Most of the people gets surprised after experiencing the totally changed weather from what they assumed. You might miss some of the places because you did not carry those outfits which is required else you waste money by purchasing them from there only.
3. Pack and Weigh
Always check the restriction on baggage as mentioned by your airline. If it says “25kg” then it means “25kg” only. For every single unit above the restricted weight, you have to pay at counter and from that moment only you might feel bad about it. Weigh your bag before check-in and always carry a handbag to shift stuff from luggage bag to handbag.
4. Carry First-Aid Kit
Everyone wants to be fit and enjoy happily throughout the trip but climatic conditions will not be always in your favour. And no one wants to suffer from severe headache, vomiting, high-climate fever or upset stomach. So, carry a kit with all necessary pills and medicine you might need.
5. Travel Adapters and Extension Cord
The most important part of your journey is your cell phone and what if it goes dead when you need it most. If you are travelling by train or from any means where you have single charging point but you are with your group then always prefer to carry an extension cord. Never ever forget adapter because it might ask you to lose your good amount of penny at airport.
6. Have some space for memories
Almost every traveller tries to fit every stuff in a single luggage bag but wait.. you are doing injustice with your memories. When you go on a trip and start collecting memories then you think and act because you have only single bag and that too is full of capacity. Now what next.. you have two options 1. purchase a bag 2. kill your memories.. It’s looking like a funny moment.. :p . I have a suggestion for this, always pack your luggage in 75% of bag area and take out every single unwanted stuff and keep it in a hand bag. Rest 25% will collect memories… !!!
7. Easy to walk.. Easy to Enjoy..
Always select footwear depending upon the type of vacation you are going for. Wear a good pair of walking shoes so that you can avoid to pack them because those are the ones which will keep you feel comfortable throughout the journey. One of the most common mistakes which I think everyone does is “They carry new shoes which they haven’t yet worn”. So, you are required to carry a pair of shoes which were in use and also adaptive according to the track of your journey.
8. Spend wisely and save more
Budget is a very essential term used in daily routine. Before spending a single penny, collect information and try to keep it as low as you can. No one wants to be bankrupt for a single trip. Here are some suggestions:
- Try to travel in low season
- If possible, try to move using intra-transport facility/ public transport facility
- Eat normal food which will always gives you a taste of local culture
- Try to pack everything which is necessary from your home only
- Try to re-use things
9. Keep your travel documents secure
You can end up your trip with worst experience if somehow you failed to secure your travel documents. You are required to show your documents at many places during journey and it might be possible that you left them somewhere during document check. Some of the basic practices that you all should follow are as follows:
- Keep a copy of your document shared between your group members
- Leave a copy of your travel document at home
- Always keep scanned copies at a place so that you can access it from laptop or phone
10. Prepare Your Itinerary Wisely
Cover less places but give time to each place. Enjoy the landscape. Sometimes, we are in a rush to cover more and more places, thus we make the trip tiring and are not able to get the essence of even a single place.
Also, take some time to absorb the place through your eyes and have a mental image. Click pictures but don’t view everything through a Camera lens.
Have A HAPPY JOURNEY..!!!!
